During winter months opened haylage bales will keep longer due to lower outdoor temperatures. Nevertheless, if a bale shows high temperatures (eg: by being warm to the touch) do not use it. In case of mould being found in the bale, be careful to not give your horse any parts where the mould is visible. To be on the safe side, do not use that bale at all for your horse. If you notice little white spots in the bale - it could be yeast. Yeast smells sweet and is not dangerous for horses to consume.
